Virgil van Dijk on Man City Verdict: “Let’s Wait and See”

Virgil van Dijk Breaks Silence on Manchester City Verdict: “Let’s Wait and See”

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has declined to give a detailed opinion on Manchester City’s ongoing financial case, insisting that he will share his thoughts once the matter has been properly settled.

The Dutch defender made the comments following Liverpool’s 3–0 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield on 11 October 2026. The result came amid renewed attention on the Premier League’s financial case involving City.

Van Dijk Chooses His Words Carefully

Speaking after the match, Van Dijk acknowledged the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester City but stressed that the on-field competition and the off-field case were separate matters.

He explained that the situation was still ongoing and that he did not consider it appropriate to comment extensively at this stage.

“When it’s properly settled I will definitely share my comments on it, but for now let’s wait and see,” Van Dijk said.

His response leaves the door open for further comments once the proceedings reach a conclusion.

Manchester City Case Remains Under Attention

Manchester City’s financial case has attracted significant attention across English football. The club has challenged the findings, and the ongoing process means the final outcome and any consequences remain subject to the relevant proceedings.

Van Dijk’s decision to avoid a detailed public assessment reflects his position that it is better to wait until the matter is resolved.

Liverpool Must Turn Their Attention Forward

While the off-field issue continues to attract headlines, Liverpool must also focus on recovering from their 3–0 loss to City. The result will be a setback for the Reds, while City will take confidence from their performance at Anfield.

Van Dijk has made it clear that he may speak more openly in the future, but for now, he wants the process to run its course.
