Real Madrid to Appeal Vinícius Jr’s Red Card and Konaté’s Yellow Card
Chag Sports | Football News
Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to appeal Vinícius Júnior’s red card following their 1–0 victory over Villarreal, with the club also set to challenge Ibrahima Konaté’s yellow card, according to reports.
The two disciplinary decisions have attracted attention as Real Madrid look to avoid potential suspensions that could affect their upcoming fixtures.
Real Madrid to Challenge Vinícius Jr’s Dismissal
Vinícius Júnior was sent off during Real Madrid’s LaLiga match against Villarreal on October 10, 2026.
The Brazilian forward thought he had scored another goal for Madrid, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review identified a hair-pulling incident involving Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba. The referee subsequently showed Vinícius a straight red card.
Real Madrid reportedly intend to appeal the decision, although overturning the dismissal could prove difficult. The disciplinary outcome could affect Vinícius’ availability for upcoming matches, including the highly anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona.
Konaté’s Yellow Card Also Under Challenge
Real Madrid are also reportedly seeking to appeal the yellow card shown to Ibrahima Konaté during the match.
The booking has raised concerns about the defender’s disciplinary situation, as another booking could put his availability for an upcoming fixture at risk.
The outcome of the reported appeal remains to be confirmed, and supporters will be watching for an official announcement.
What Happens Next?
The appeals could be important for Real Madrid as they prepare for a demanding run of fixtures. However, the final decisions rest with the relevant football disciplinary authorities.
For now, the club’s reported efforts to challenge the decisions remain a developing story.
