Al Faisaly 1–3 Al Nassr: Ronaldo Goal Recorded as an Own Goal
Al Nassr Beat Al Faisaly 3–1 as Ronaldo Goal Is Recorded as an Own Goal
Al Nassr secured a 3–1 victory over Al Faisaly on 23 October 2026, but a disputed goal involving Cristiano Ronaldo became a major talking point after it was recorded as an own goal.
Abdullah Al-Hamdan gave Al Nassr an early lead in the fourth minute, finishing a move assisted by Sadio Mané. Al Nassr went into half-time leading 1–0.
Ronaldo appeared to double the advantage in the 49th minute with a header from João Félix’s cross. However, the goal was subsequently recorded as an own goal by Al Faisaly defender Andrei Girotto.
Ronaldo later found the net again, but his effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR review.
Al Faisaly responded in the 66th minute when Théo Bongonda scored to make it 2–1, giving the home side renewed hope.
However, Ângelo restored Al Nassr’s two-goal cushion in the 79th minute, finishing a move created by Abdullah Al-Hamdan to seal a 3–1 victory.
What This Means for Ronaldo’s Goal Record
The own-goal decision means the 49th-minute effort should not be counted as Ronaldo’s official goal unless the relevant football authorities subsequently revise the attribution. His later disallowed effort also does not count as an official goal.
Chag Sports Correction Notice
An earlier Chag Sports report credited Cristiano Ronaldo with the goal after it was initially shown that way on live-score platforms. Following the subsequent correction, the goal was recorded as an own goal by Andrei Girotto.
